San Ramon Regional Medical Center in midst of $22M buildout. January 29, 2010
San Ramon Regional Medical Center, one of the few for-profit hospitals in Northern California, is in the midst of an expansion surge expected to cost $22 million. That includes an emergency room and clinical laboratory expansion, a new cardiac cath lab, and a breast cancer center that opened in October. Work began on the project’s biggest element, moving and expanding the emergency room from nine beds to 17 and expanding the clinical lab, with ground-breaking in mid-December.

San Mateo Medical Center nabs $1.7M in stimulus funding for Coastside clinic. December 12, 2009
San Mateo Medical Center said Thursday it’s been awarded $1.7 million in federal stimulus funding to expand primary care services to low-income patients in the rural Coastside area. Once construction is completed in 2011, the clinic will be able to provide primary care and dental services to more than 1,200 additional patients.

Hospitals move forward with expensive rebuilds. November 27, 2009
Four major Oakland hospitals need to rebuild or undergo major expansions in coming years. Kaiser Permanente’s flagship Oakland medical center has its huge project under way. Alta Bates Summit Medical Center and the Alameda County Medical Center/Highland Hospital - have big projects in the planning stages. Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland, is weighing its options under a new CEO after earlier plans went astray.

San Ramon Regional to break ground on $10.7M expansion project. November 24, 2009
San Ramon Regional Medical Center said it will break ground on a $10.7 million ER and clinical laboratory expansion project Dec. 15. The emergency department will increase to 8,900-square-feet in size, and its patient capacity will increase from nine beds to 16.

San Ramon opens $1.7M renovation. October 23, 2009
San Ramon Regional Medical Center is celebrating the opening of its renovated $1.7 million, 2,500-square-foot Breast Cancer Center Oct. 29, although its new mammography units have been open for several months. Four radiologists will staff the center, one per day on a rotating basis.

SF breaks ground on new General Hospital. October 23, 2009
The new, nine-story hospital with 284 acute-care beds will be built amid the hospital’s historic red brick buildings along Potrero Avenue. It is expected to open in time for the 2015 deadline set by the state for hospitals to meet seismic requirements.
