Inova Health System may add 200 more doctors. December 10, 2010
Inova Health System wants to add potentially hundreds of primary care doctors to its in-house physicians group, both by recruiting and by acquiring existing Northern Virginia practices. Independent physicians familiar with the plans say Inova wants to add more than 200 doctors to the 185-member Inova Medical Group. Inova officials say they don’t have an exact hiring target but believe the region could use another 250 doctors.

Hill East home to beefed-up detox clinic, stalled redevelopment plans. November 12, 2010
Residents of D.C.’s Hill East neighborhood were promised a waterfront development. Instead, they’re getting a ramped-up methadone clinic. The existing District-run clinic on the former home of D.C. General Hospital, will expand from 200 to about 500 patients, neighbors discovered during a community meeting. Residents also learned that the “overflow” men’s homeless shelter there is now a permanent facility.

Suburban Hospital plan scaled back. October 21, 2010
The Montgomery County Board of Appeals imposed a major restriction Wednesday on Suburban Hospital’s $230 million campus remodeling and expansion plan, handing a partial victory to a neighborhood association that has long fought the proposal.

United Medical Center seeks to reopen abandoned unit. October 5, 2010
nited Medical Center says it needs to grow. The D.C. government-owned hospital in Southeast, which nearly collapsed under private ownership and is now trying to stabilize itself under public control, is seeking approval from District health regulators to add 40 general-purpose beds to its current 194-bed arrangement. UMC estimates it would need to hire 59 new workers, including 32 nurses, to staff the floor.
