The near term demand for health care workers in the Riverside metropolitan area fell noticeably during Q3. Of particular note, Pomona Valley informed close to 300 of its employees that they will have their hours reduced or be laid off due to declines in patient volume.
On a comparative basis, the Riverside health care labor market weakened notably from the prior quarter and compared to the rest of the country. Its Q3 LMPI score of 34.49 was the lowest of 30 markets tracked by LMPI and compares to the national composite of 50.62.

The San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital is in the midst of a $108 million construction project that includes the construction of a central plant, a new emergency department and intensive care unit, re-roofing the hospital, remodeling the kitchen and further down the line, remodeling the offices and building a new loading dock.

Pomona Valley lays off or reduces hours for hospital employees. July 10, 2010
Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center this week informed close to 300 of its employees they will have their work hours reduced or be laid off in part due to a drop in patients. There will be about 180 layoffs and another roughly 100 workers will have their hours cut.
