Q2 2011 - Market Summary
The near-term demand for health care workers in the Detroit metro area fell slightly during Q2. Of note, Both Beaumont and Henry Ford Health Systems announced their first raises since 2008. Aslo, Vanguard announced that it will soon begin to spend some of the $850 million it promised for 20 projects including a new tower at DMC’s Children’s Hospital of Michigan.
On a comparative basis, the Detroit health care labor market remained slightly weaker than much of the rest of the country. Its Q2 LMPI score of 45.8, down 6% from the prior quarter, was just lower than the national composite of 49.9, down 3% from the prior quarter.

Two Metro Detroit health systems next month will give about 40,000 employees their first raises since 2008. Both Beaumont Health System and Henry Ford Health System say they can reward employees because their financial health has improved after the economic downturn.

DMC under Vanguard: New construction, new efficiency review - and new meetings. May 8, 2011
Beginning this year, Vanguard will start to spend some of the $850 million it promised in about 20 projects, including a new tower at DMC’s Children’s Hospital of Michigan, a new DMC Cardiovascular Institute for Harper University Hospital and Hutzel Women’s Hospital and expansion of the emergency department at Sinai-Grace Hospital.
