Q2 2010 - Market Summary
The near-term demand for health care workers in the San Jose metropolitan area continued to remain steady during the second quarter of 2010. Of note during the quarter, Regional Medical Center of San Jose unveiled its new office building, operating room, and larger ICU. The expansion features centralized nurse stations for streamlining the delivery of care. Also, the completion of two Stanford hospital construction projects have been further delayed until at least 2017.
On a comparative basis, the San Jose health care labor market remains steady relative to the rest of the country. Its HWS LMPI score of 47.3 for Q2 2010, up slightly from last quarter, is slightly below the national composite of 58.6 for the quarter.

The Regional Medical Center is unveiling its first expansion and face-lift. There is a new office building for hospital staff, an open-heart operating room and an expanded intensive care unit. There are 77 larger, private patient rooms, and nurses will have centralized stations designed to help streamline delivery of care.

The two Stanford hospitals are unlikely to finish their huge construction projects until 2016 at the earliest, and likely will not be ready for prime time until 2017 - three years later than Stanford was hoping for as recently as early last year.
