Q1 2010 – Market Summary

The near-term demand for health care workers in the Chicago metropolitan area held steady during Q1 for the third consecutive quarter, despite an announcement by the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center that it was shelving its plans for an overhaul of the UIC campus.

On a comparative basis, the Chicago health care labor market remained is only slightly weaker than the national composite of 30 different markets tracked by the LMPI. Chicago’s LMPI score of 45.8 for Q1 2010, was similar to last quarter, and compares to the national composite index of 49.9, down 8% from the prior quarter.
