HealthSouth plans Cypress building, acquires Sugar Land rehab facility. August 6, 2010
HealthSouth Corp. is expanding on multiple medical fronts in Houston. The Birmingham, Ala.-based hospital company plans to construct a new 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in the Cypress area.

Collaboration creates cancer center. August 6, 2010
Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, Texas Oncology and US Oncology Inc. have joined forces to create a new cancer center at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center in West Houston. The collaboration involves the construction of a new 25,000-square-foot cancer center at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center.
The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center has also opened satellite facilities in Clear Lake, Bellaire, The Woodlands, Fort Bend and Lake Jackson.

Harris County sews up twin outpatient clinics. July 16, 2010
The Harris County Hospital District plans to construct two new outpatient specialty clinics in an effort to provide care similar to its private industry competitors in the Texas Medical Center.
The Methodist Hospital is also opening a new outpatient center, which is projected to handle 310,000 patient visits a year.

Briefs: Texas Children’s maternity center set for completion in 2011. July 9, 2010
The new 796,000-square-foot maternity center at Texas Children’s Hospital will include a 15-floor maternity hospital, clinic and office space as well as some pediatric components.
